Some of My Puppetry Background
Q: Why do you write puppet scripts? What motivates you?
I write for God's Glory I pray, Of course the motivation comes from God, my goodness look what He has done for me, Saved a sorry ol' wretch like me, with the precious blood of His only Son, my Savior JESUS!
Q: Tell us about your church or puppet organisation.
.I give away toys..Bible Bucks..candy..pick a child to pull a sucker for listening..many other great ideas out there just search to your hearts desire. And every 4th month open the Bible Buck store so they can spend their Bible Bucks.
Q: How did you get started in puppets and what attracted you to this area?
I kind of fell into it at a previous church. And when God started The Living Way Church and I noticed that Childrens Sunday School attendence was way down. I knew the only way to get the children to Jesus was to get them excited in Childrens Ministry through the puppets, and here I am today, serving as best I can.
Q: Where does your inspiration come from to write puppet scripts?
Actually I enjoy writing scripts for Rocky our Lion puppet (Performed by Jacob 1 of our youth)Funny thing,Jacob has a 7 yr old sister that fusses with him all the time. But when Rocky is performing it is as if Rocky is real and she forgets it is her brother doing the performance.
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in puppetry?
Be prepared to invest a lot of time in this ministry. Each week I average about 10-15 hrs searching for and writing scripts, buying supplies. Let your puppeteers adlib in the scripts, it adds variety, I have never laughed so hard as a puppet ad libbing something in the script.
Q: Who are your favourite puppet characters and what do you like about them?
Rocky our Lion is Loved by all...but he just can't remember a thing...He's not a puppet to the children he is real, so they think. Thank you Jacob for bringing Rocky his character, I couldn't do it without you.
Q: What are the most important qualities in great puppet scripts?
As it was before, it is the same today..we have to do our very best to meld real life situations into what God is trying to teach us from His Word...And this old mean world will take our children away if we let them. Thank You MOM you got me to Jesus and Jesus got to me.
Q: What would you do if you were a puppet?
Exactly what ours do today. Bring Jesus to the children, and with God's Grace the children to Jesus.
