Some of My Puppetry Background
Q: Why do you write puppet scripts? What motivates you?
I have a great passion for using puppets to share Christianity and bible truths. I also happen to enjoy writing scripts.
Q: Tell us about your church or puppet organisation.
I am a member of a local church and run the puppet team. We are a small team with approximately 8-10 members at any one time. We mainly perform sketches and parory songs within the Sunday services but also do additional events and venues as required.
Q: How did you get started in puppets and what attracted you to this area?
I attended a basic puppetry training session run by Oneway UK and just got the bug.
Q: Where does your inspiration come from to write puppet scripts?
My main inspiration is Bible truths and the gospel, but I also try to write with the target audience in mind.
Q: What advice would you give to someone just starting out in puppetry?
Number 1 - If you don't enjoy it, it isn't for you.
Number 2 - Learn good puppetry technique.
Number 3 - Enjoy it
Q: Who are your favourite puppet characters and what do you like about them?
I don't have specific favourites, but if you watch a performance and see a character rather than just a puppet playing a part, then it has done it's job well.
Q: What are the most important qualities in great puppet scripts?
Ones that get the message across in a way relevant to the target audience and preferably with a good dose of humor.
Q: What would you do if you were a puppet?
That would depend on the puppeteer!
